Email Scam Aimed at Cosmetic Dentists

An email scam targeting cosmetic dentists is spreading to the email inboxes of cosmetic dentists in the United States. Some of the basic facts and contact information is changed depending on the version you receive, but here is one I received just this week. I am not including the name of the doctor they are impersonating or the model that is mentioned as they may not even have any involvement. There are some very obvious signs of scam here. For example, the email mentions a “simple” smile makeover involving 16 teeth! Simple, hmmm? However, they provide just enough seemingly legitimate information (some of which I have removed below in order not to send readers to the websites and email addresses listed) that I thought I should take the time to make my readers aware of this latest scam.

Greetings from Australia!!

My name is Dr. Rxxxxx Dxxxxx, I live and work as a plastic surgeon here in Melbourne, I am originally from Milan, Italy, I have been a plastic surgeon since 1996. I do face
lifts and breast lifts also known as Mastopexy, Nose lifts, Neck Lift Surgery. I have lots of happy clients here in Australia.

I have been looking for a Dentist for over a week now till i met an old friend at a Cosmetic Surgery And Beauty Conference that was held over the weekend here in Australia,
I spoke with her about my client and was referred to you. She gave me your contact details, she said she came to your office with a friend a year ago before she relocated
with her family to Melbourne, so i decided to contact you to know if you will be able to do a Smile makeover treatment for my client.

My Clients name is Ms Kxxxx Lxx, She is a model here in Melbourne who will be needing a Simple smile makeover treatment when she arrives the states, She will be coming to
the states in 3 weeks time for a modeling job and will be residing in your Area temporarily until the necessary arrangement for her job has been made before she leaves.

Pls tell me a little more about your self, how long have you been a Dentist? Would you be able to provide her with the Simple smile makeover treatments 8 upper teeth and 8
lower teeth in 3 weeks time?

Pls i need you to get back to me with the amount you charge Per tooth and also let me know if she can pay you with a Certified Check drawn from a US bank so you can have
her scheduled from the 26th of this month,she would be staying in the states for 9 Weeks when she arrives so am sure you would have enough time for the treatments. hope you
would be able to work with the time frame? You can schedule her from the 26th of this Month till the first week of November.
